Yeasayer- "Henrietta"

Look, fellow droogy, I must confess; I am not the biggest Yeasayer fan (although, some other Yarnly alum, are). Frankly, I just don't get it. Is it future, indie R&B made for the desert? I don't know, do you? So, you have to trust me in saying that "Henrietta" is a certified dope jam because, this might be the only thing I like by them.

Granted, The tune starts off lethargic and fractured, as do most Yeasayer tracks but, after the smoothly, seething bridge, all of those fractures and pieces come oozing together to create a cooling refrain that will be stuck in your head for days ("Oh Henrietta, we can make love forever"). What strikes me with "Henrietta" is that, it might be my favorite Yeasayer tune and it might be their simplest. The refrain is just so sweet and easily digestible, it is a shame that they don't write more songs like this. Scratch that (the past is the past), I am hoping that this is a sign of things to come.

We are in a weird time of year; it is starting to warm up, mother earth is green but, we aren't quite ready to kick it into high-gear, like we will be after memorial day weekend. "Henrietta" will work well with a glass of wine, relaxing on a deck anywhere watching the sun set.
